The difference Between Single Stage and Multistage Centrifugal Pump

1.Distinguish

Number of Impellers

1. Single-stage pump: there is only one impeller in the pump. At normal speed, the large lift generated by a single-stage pump can reach 1 ~ 1.5MPa;
2. Multistage pump: the pump has 2 or more impellers.
The liquid flows through each impeller in turn, and one impeller is the first stage.
The more stages, the higher the lift. The number of stages of the multistage centrifugal pump is generally between 2-13 stages, which is inconvenient in installation and operation. Now, with the development of the machinery industry, multistage centrifugal pump is developing in the direction of high speed and few stages. At present, the high-pressure centrifugal pump manufactured by DUBAO has only 2-3 stages when the rotating speed is more than 7000 rpm.

Lift

1. Single-stage pump: the lift is lower than 0.2MPa (20m water column);

2. Medium pressure pump: single-stage head is 0.2 ~ 1MPa (20 ~ 102m water column);

3. Multistage pump: the single-stage head is higher than impa (greater than 102m water column).

The single-stage head value of the multi-stage pump is equal to the value obtained by dividing the total head value of the pump by the number of stages.

The pump is classified as the low-pressure pump, medium pressure pump, or high-pressure pump according to the single-stage head value, which is inconsistent with the habit of dividing the high and low pressure of the pump according to the total head value. If it is customary to say that the multi-stage pump is mostly a high-pressure pump, but according to the classification of the single-stage head, the multi-stage pump is not necessarily a high-pressure pump. Such as 100d45 × Although the 8-stage centrifugal pump has 8 stages and the total head reaches 3.6mpa (367M water column), its single-stage head is only 0.5m 45MPa (46m water column), still only a low-pressure pump. Only the multi-stage pump with high speed and small stage can be regarded as a real multi-stage pump due to the high single-stage head.

2.Purpose

Application of single-stage pump in waste gas tower

Compared with the single-stage pump, the difference is that the multi-stage pump has more than two impellers, which can absorb and press water in stages and stages, so as to lift the water to a very high position, and the lift can increase or decrease the number of stages of the pump impeller as needed.
Multistage pumps are mainly used for mine drainage, urban and factory water supply, and few are used for agricultural irrigation.
They are only suitable for lifting water in high mountain areas with high lift and small flow to solve the difficulty of drinking water for human and livestock.

The above is the difference between a single-stage pump and a multi-stage pump.

DUBAO's main single-stage pumps include magnetic single-stage pumps, vertical single-stage pumps, centrifugal single-stage pumps, high and low-temperature single-stage pumps. Multi-stage pumps include vertical three-phase motor, stainless steel multi-stage pipeline pump, horizontal stainless steel multi-stage pump, and other pumps.
